The construction of Ronda de Dalt & Ronda Litoral, during the Olympic Games of 1992 alleviated traffic congestion in the city centre and gave Barcelona a very easy and fast way to access. These two Rondas running around the mountain and the sea front were added to the fast route maps of Barcelona and have their exit on Gran Via, Diagonal, Ronda del Mig and Meridiana. These roads run through some of the densely populated areas and contributed to give a totally new look to the city, with the creation of green aereas, new Plazas and pedestrian streets.
The A7 motorway is the main route to Barcelona from France and runs down the coast past Valencia, as far as Alicante to the south. The A2 heads inland to the west for Zaragoza and connects to Madrid.
Car Parks:
Finding a a car park in Barcelona is easy but finding one with availability is a bit more difficult. Parking rates range from 2 € per hour to around 22€ for a whole day.
There are also paid parking areas in the street (blue zones + green area) and charges vary according to the zone.
One of the cheapest way to park your car is in Placa de les Glories that offer a "Park and Ride" service called Metropark. The parking fee gives you car parking and unlimited metro travel for 7 Euros per day and provide convenient connections with the public transport network.
Other options are parking your car in a district that is a little further out from the city centre but that has a metro stop near by.

BY TRAIN
Barcelona Sants Station: is the city's main railway station, serving national and international destinations as well as suburban routes. There are direct trains to Barcelona from Paris, Milan and Zurich.
Facilities in the station building include tourist information, hotel information, left luggage, currency exchange, a restaurant and cafeteria, shops, a first-aid point, showers, lockers and secure parking.
Estació de França: Offers International passenger trains from Paris, Milan and Zurich but mainly southbound regional services. On some regional train routes, an alternative to both these stations is Passeig de Gràcia station, located close to Plaça de Catalunya and La Rambla.

BY BUS
Estació del Nord: National and international coach services and most long-distance coaches from other parts of Spain use Estació del Nord as their main departure and destination point in Barcelona. There are also several national and regional bus companies connected to the rest of Spain.
In Barcelona-Nord you can also find an Exchange Office and a baggage storage area located within the outside bus area.
The most important companies operating in Barcelona Estació del Nord are: Sagalés, in charge of the bus service between Girona Airport and the city, Eurolines connected to major European cities, including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Prague and Rome; Alsa and Linebus from Barcelona to France, Italy, Morocco, Moldavia, Poland, Rumenia and Ukraine and Starbus to Holland and Belgium.
